Born out of a passion for Watamu's pristine wilderness, Mkoko Explorers began as one person's vision to share the magic of Mida Creek with the world. In 2024, we launched with a simple belief: that the most meaningful adventures happen when we slow down, connect with nature, and support the communities that call these special places home.
Every kayak that paddles through our mangrove channels and every cycle that whisks along our coastal trails tells a story of sustainable tourism done the right way.
When you explore with us, you're joining a movement that believes tourism should educate, inspire, and give back to the places and communities we love.
Mkoko (noun: pl. Mikoko) In Swahili, Mkoko means "Mangrove". We have plenty of them in Watamu - that's how we got our name!

Mkoko Explorers was borne from a 'first love' of cycling and a passion for quality bikes. Trusted by riders worldwide, all our tour bikes are specialised models, well known for their performance, comfort and reliability
We Paddle
We love paddling so much we have two options, Kayaking & Paddleboarding! We are confident to say that our Kayaks are the best in Watamu. Our Paddleboards even have seats if you need a break from standing.
